quick drawing this afternoon, i got sick of revision and needed the rush
how do i describe the joy of drawing on bristol board instead of cheapie school paper? it really does make a world of difference... i'd seriously recommend it
tools:
B mechanical pencil (0.5mm),
4B wood graphite pencils,
cotton in various forms,
kneaded eraser,
pathetically low amount of time (5 hrs),
and of course: bristol board
Well, I was in AP Drawing... You're pretty awesome at drawing from flat images... all you need is some re-tooling of your views in order to adapt to from-life drawings.
Rule number one: don't start with drawing yourself, or people you know very well. The less familiar you are with someone's face, the more objective you can be.
Another tip is not always to observe the positive space, but the negative space surrounding it. It helps you get the proportions right and everything...
If you are still having difficulties, it may be because when you're say.... drawing the nose, you might be thinking a little bit too much about what a nose looks like. The way you get past that, is if you instead do not even think about what you are drawing... ocus on the deepest shadows, and the brightest highlights... and then work your way into the middle.
I hope that helps! My fine art never got to quite the same level as my cartooning and such, but it was enough to pass the AP exam..

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
